How to Use Tiger's Eye
The gemstone Tiger's Eye (also known as Tiger Eye) is a stone mined primarily in Austria, Brazil, India, Mexico, and South Africa. It belongs to the quartz group and is usually black-brown to gold in color with lighter shimmering bands of gold or yellow. The bands are fibrous structures in the rock caused by extreme heat and pressure, which give the stone the appearance of a lion's Eye.
Tiger's Eye is not to be confused with Tiger Iron, which is a combination of Tiger's Eye, Black Hematite, and Red Jasper, reflecting shades of red and blue. It is also distinct from Cat's Eye. Cat's Eye is a term often used for any stone of any color that resembles a cat's Eye.
Some believe Tiger's Eye carries supernatural forces that can protect one from the "evil eye", which is a stare meant to curse an unsuspecting person. Some believe the evil Eye can only cast harm upon those who would wish to harm an innocent. But others say plenty of good, god-loving people have been ill-wished. Either way, Tiger's Eye is widely used for protection against bad vibes. For example, in the movie Practical Magic, Gillian (played by Nicole Kidman) dashes frantically around to find her Tiger's Eye when she sees blood on the moon (a red ring around the moon signaling something terrible is about to happen).
Crystals naturally increase positive energy and clear away negative vibrations. Because Tiger's Eye is a crystal, it is worn to clear negative energies from the human electromagnetic energy field, the aura. In rituals, Tiger's Eye is placed on the navel as it works particularly well in conjunction with the Solar Plexus chakra, which relates to self-confidence, learning, and playfulness. It is also beneficial for the Sacral chakra, which encourages creativity and manages emotions associated with love relationships, issues related to sex, pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, and trauma to the reproductive system due to surgery or abuse.
Just as a cat's purr can help to heal bones, Tiger's Eye is believed, in some circles, to heal broken bones. Tiger's Eye is also known to help with eyesight (including vision and eye diseases) and insight (enhancing intuition).
In ancient times, people believed that an individual could see all things if they owned a Tiger's Eye. However, Tiger Eye doesn't genuinely relate to the Brow chakra, the chakra of intuition. Still, due to its association with the Eye, Tiger's Eye is placed on the Third Eye (the space between the eyes on the brow bone) during rituals to enhance spiritual power and clarity.
Tiger's Eye helps with all addictions, such as food, gambling, and drug addictions, by reducing fear and anxiety, improving willpower, and removing the need for such stimulations, often caused by depression and self-imposed isolation.
Tiger's Eye helps to resolve internal conflicts and difficulties between people, which may be the result of its positive effect on mood, self-confidence, and creativity. It enables people with opposing views to acknowledge their emotions and find common ground. Therefore, it is an excellent stone for people employed in teaching and counseling positions.
Those involved in rituals often carry or wear talismans or amulets to protect themselves from hexes, spells, and negative energy. A talisman is an object held in one's pocket or worn about the neck or waist in a drawstring pouch. Talismans are, sometimes, rings or stones that have inscriptions. If the jewelry piece is a ring, it's worn on the ring finger of your dominant hand. Similarly, many wear amulets as ornaments. Both are said to contain magical powers able to ward off evil and bring luck to the wearer. Tiger's Eye is often the stone of choice.
The bottom line is that Tiger's Eye is known to resolve crises, including financial ones. Multiple Tiger's Eye stones placed around a flaming green candle with a few bills tucked between each gemstone will send out your intentions to receive wealth and money. Placing a few stones near a workspace could help initiate a windfall. At the very least, these rituals should help bring in a steady cash flow.
