Sense of Taste: Taste-Based Activities
Taste-based activities correspond with the Sanguine Temperament, Blood (Hot/Wet), Air Element, Spring, the Astral Body, Tree of Life: World of Yetzirah (of Formation), Solar Plexus (Manipura) and Sacral (Svadhisthana) Chakras, the Yellow and Orange Aura Color Personalities, the Senses of Sight and Taste, the Emotion of Fear, and YAM (part of God's name).
- This one is easy! You have to eat to survive, so it is necessary to taste things. You cannot escape your taste buds. You heal through your sense of Taste through the foods you put into your body. Therefore, take the opportunity to taste whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fish and organic red meat, and fresh, pure water.
- Make an energy bar. Energy bars are great for grabbing instead of chips and sodas that aren’t good for your body or energy levels.
- Eat live foods. At least half (50%) of your foods should be live, which is food that has not been heated, cooked, or refined in any way. When foods are cooked at more than 113 degrees, they lose their enzymes, and your body has to rush in extra back-up enzymes to do the job of breaking down and digesting your food. Your body is then short-changed elsewhere, as these enzymes (little protein molecule factory workers) will have to leave their posts (from your heart, lungs, muscle tissue, liver tissue) to assist with digesting the dead food you just ate, which doesn't happen when you eat “live” foods. Live foods contain natural enzymes. Reduced enzyme function is one of the major causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and symptoms, such as upset stomach, gas, constipation, and diarrhea.
- Eat something yummy and savor a flavor. Too many times, we don’t take time to chew our foods thoroughly and taste the flavor. We are in a hurry, watching TV, on our computers or talking to someone. When’s the last time you can remember enjoying the pure taste of something you ate without distraction? Live in the moment today by savoring a flavor. Whether it is a piece of chocolate or your favorite wine, go ahead and indulge as if it is your last time to enjoy it.
- Create a smoothie. Try this easy recipe. Take two cored and peeled sweet apples, a 1/2 cup of raspberries or strawberries, a few grapes, ½ cup of water, 5-6 ice cubes, and a packet of Stevia and toss it in the blender. Blend well and enjoy.
- Invite someone to dinner. Many people don’t like to cook for one. Invite someone to dinner and enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal. Or, have you and your friend make the same thing for dinner in separate home and share your meal together (long distance) on Skype, Zoom, or Facebook Messenger Video.
- Share a dessert or meal. Desserts are always special (at least they are in my family), and sharing them with someone can be an added pleasure at home. When you are out and about with a friend, buy just one serving. Ask for two spoons. It saves you money and extra inches around the waist while providing a sweet memory.
- Sip your favorite beverage. What do you like to drink? Whether it is tea or Scotch, really notice the aroma, the taste, and how it feels going down the next time you drink it. Really taste the moment.
- Eat out at a place you have never been to before. Be open-minded. Tantalize your taste buds. Eat something you have never eaten before.
- Brush your teeth. There’s nothing worse to sink your spirits than your mouth feeling as if someone tramped through it in muddy boots. Brush your teeth. Uplift your mood in a couple of minutes.
- Gulp down a tall glass of water. Your body needs fresh water to remain healthy and energetic. Make drinking “pure water” your new, best habit.
