I Have HSV. What Can I Grab to Eat or Make in a Hurry?

I provide HSV-worry-free meal plans to help you avoid food-related HSV triggers while you learn how to reduce HSV flares in my e-book, The Anti-HSV Cauldron: The 4-Week Plan for Reducing HSV Flares. They're simply done-for-you healthy options when you suspect your diet is triggering outbreaks and want to avoid HSV food triggers. Such as? The amino acid arginine (found in protein) can trigger HSV for some people. My HSV Meal Plans are low in arginine. Here's an example of a worry-free meal plan for just one day.

  • Breakfast: Eggs and bacon (2-3 x weekly bacon max)
  • Lunch: Cut veggies and avocado dip (don't eat avocado daily)
  • Dinner: Sweet potato, zucchini, and roasted chicken (3-6 ounces)
  • Beverages: Organic and decaf coffee (1 cup) with whipped cream or half-and-half, organic milk, green tea (1 cup), lemon or lime water (HSV neutral), and pure water (primary beverage; no tap) are recommended. Rice or almond milk (1 cup).
  • Fats: Avocado (½), butter, coconut oil, margarine, or regular Ranch dressing or low-fat French dressings. Mayonnaise (a very small amount) contains about the same amount of lysine as arginine. While coconut meat can trigger HSV due to its high arginine content, coconut oil doesn't contain the amino acids found in the meat. It's safe to add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to turmeric tea.

Please don't follow this same menu plan day after day. Eating bacon, avocado, and mayonnaise daily can raise your arginine ratio. Eating a well-balanced diet with a variety of foods is essential. Lysine counteracts arginine's negative effects when you consume it in higher ratios than arginine. I provide 24 more HSV Meal Plans in The Anti-HSV Cauldron. However, you don't have to buy my e-book to start eating foods with less arginine and more lysine.

Check out my Comprehensive Lysine Vs. Arginine Food Ratio Guide, which reveals arginine and lysine ratios for foods in every category, including fast food, prepackaged, and canned. It's essential to maintain a healthy balance between these two amino acids as well as foods in general.
