THW Calming Tea Recipe
The Herpes Witch Calming Tea is best enjoyed when feeling highly anxious or in the evening to help relax before bed. It is safe to drink daily and over the long term to nourish your immune system.
Sencha (green tea with less than 3% caffeine) and raspberries are rich in antioxidants and have a pleasant taste. Peppermint calms the stomach. Lemon balm, catnip, and lavender are all antiviral and calming herbs and can be slightly sedating. I include lavender for its medicinal benefits, but omit it if you don't like its taste. You can substitute another herb, such as cistus (antibacterial, antifungal, and antibacterial), chamomile (calming), Nori seaweed (antiviral), or passionflower (promoting peaceful sleep). Ashwagandha reduces cortisol levels.
You'll need a large bowl, measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a tightly lidded jar (preferably dark glass or ceramic) to store your tea.
Ingredients
Blend the following dried bulk teas.
- 2 Tsp green tea (preferably Sencha, which contains less caffeine)
- 3 Tsp lemon balm
- 3 Tsp catnip
- 1 Tsp peppermint
- 2 Tsp rose hips
- 1 Tsp lavender flower buds
- 2 Tsp raspberry (leaf)
- 2 Tsp ashwagandha
Use just one heaping teaspoon per cup with 6-8 ounces of near-boiling water.
Steep for 5-10 minutes and strain or remove the tea strainer (infuser). This tea is delicious, hot or on ice. Add raw honey or all-natural green stevia for sweetness and additional health benefits. Discontinue stevia if diarrhea develops.
Drink one cup per day to help prevent viral infections. During active viruses, drink 3-4 cups daily for no longer than two weeks. Give yourself a break of 7-10 days before resuming one cup daily.
To protect freshness, store your tea in a tightly sealed jar or can away from heat and bright light.
Note: Although rose hips contain high amounts of vitamin C, the amount used in this recipe is insufficient to warrant concern.
